The humble Swallow travels 6000 miles from Africa to Europe each year marking the start of Spring. I love watching them at dusk dancing in the sky. Dipping, diving and singing to each other. On my first trip to Connemara I stood outside watching them for an hour until it got dark. It was mesmerizing. Someone told me they are like dolphins of the sky and a few days later when I was driving home they were swirling and and following along the nose of my car the way a dolphin follows along the wake of a boat.
I really wanted to capture that last light of dusk and that experience of watching these little birds dance. This painting is a diptych, spread across two canvases. They can be framed together or separated and slightly spread out.
