One thing you will for sure see in Connemara (and all down the west coast of Ireland) are sheep. They dot the landscape any walk down the country roads. When I spotted this scene of the sheep with the beautiful Twelve Ben’s in the background I knew I had to paint it.
One of my favorite things about living and painting in Ireland is the atmospheric moody skies. The clouds are full of texture and color and always changing. Even a grey sky can have so much personality. I loved how moody this scene is, but close up you can see all the shifting colors and energetic brush strokes. The warmth of the sheep is in contrast to the coolness of the landscape.
