Painting outside is one of my favorite things to do. I love to capture the energy and feeling of a place. Being there and painting in person keeps all the colors fresh and lifelike. The Mourne Mountains are a source of endless inspiration and I’m so grateful to be able to hike and paint there. Beautiful Happy Valley has a wonderful river running down the valley with multiple waterfalls. It was the end of summer and I wanted to capture the last of the heather before everything turned crimson. I love the sharp contrast of the golden grass and deep purple rocks. You can feel the late summer sun, like you’re ready to take a dip in the river or hike up the mountain.
