On an early morning winter hike the sky was clear and just turning a beautiful pink hue. I paused to catch my breath and turned around and there was the full moon. Golden yellow and massive in a clear sky. There was a light frost on the ground. So many people describe my artwork as calming and warm and I think we all need a bit more of that in our lives and homes. In recent years, I have been drawn to painting on Irish linen. Ireland has a really rich history of making linen and I felt compelled to create my Irish landscapes on Irish linen, allowing sections of the fabric to remain visible. The weave and tones become part of the piece, adding depth, texture, and a distinct character that roots the work in both place and tradition.
