Settled
My Life in Ireland
Eight months ago I shut down my online shop and deleted Instagram from my phone. I needed to strip everything back to better hear my inner voice. To learn, grow and create what was in my heart to paint. In that time I’ve devoured art books and learned new techniques. Tapped into what inspires me and have created works of art I’m really really proud of. I’ve also moved into a new studio and opened an art gallery. I would say that I feel more settled in both myself and my surroundings than I’ve ever felt before. This collection of paintings is an ode to both. What’s in my heart and the overwhelming gratitude I feel living in this beautiful, inspiring community.
When you go out to paint you never know what you’re going to get. So when the sky turns pastel pinks and oranges and just gets more and more vibrant as the painting goes on it’s really special. I paint this scene a lot. The lough, the mountain, the tide out. Every painting is always different, each unique and special. But I think my favorite are the evenings. The light, atmosphere and colors are so beautiful.
This painting was done en plein air. One of my favorite things in the world is to be out in nature, set up with my easel and paints and my dog by my side. I find so much inspiration painting on location. It evokes all of your senses and gives you a true sense of color and place.
